As part of the partnership agreement between the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) and the United Way I have been working closely with Labour Community Relationship Lead, Natasha Fryzuk and the rest of the Labour Cabinet to help bring a labour lens to the work of the United Way Capital Region.
Part of this work is helping to encourage unions and employers to take the Period Promise a campaign started by labour to help create more equitable workplaces that provide universally accessible access to menstrual products.
Today I had the pleasure of joining HSAA’s women’s committee as they took the pledge to ensure that their union provide free menstrual products in all bathrooms. Together in our partnership with the United Way unions can continue to take action on issues of equity and accessibility while at the same time pressure employers to do the same.
If you’re interested in taking a concrete and tangible step to creating a more equitable world I encourage you to contact your local United Way today and join them in their pledge.
